Ariane Chapelle
Dr. Chapelle is an internationally recognised speaker, writer and advisor in Operational Risk Management, active in the field since 2000. She holds a PhD in Economics, Master degrees in Business Administration and Econometrics and she is an Associate Professor at University College London for the course 'Operational Risk Measurement for Financial Institutions’.

Dr. Chapelle founded ran her advisory and training practice, Chapelle Consulting, that became BDO Chapelle in October 2022. BDO Chapelle serves financial institutions of all sizes as well as international organisations, including central banks, the Wolrd Bank and the IMF. In 2019, the firm received the Risk.net Award for ‘Outstanding Achievement in the Year in Operational Risk’ and mutiple awards of best risk management training and advisory company in the UK and in Europe.

Dr. Chapelle has published extensively on the topic. Her textbook Operational Risk Management: Best Practices in the Financial Services Industry, published by Wiley Finance Series in December 2018, rapidly became the No.1 best seller in its field. It has been translated in French by Pearson and received the “Book if the Year 2020” operational risk in 2020.

For Garp, Ariane Chapelle authored “Operational Risk and Regulation” (Pearson, 2022), the reference material for the related section of the 2023 Financial Risk Manager Certification (FRM, Garp).

Brian Zawada
Brian Zawada is the Vice President of Strategy and Innovation for Riskonnect’s business continuity and resilience solutions. Over the past 28 years, Brian has actively managed internal business continuity programs and consulted with public and private sector organizations of all sizes, helping them not only design and implement world-class business continuity and operational resilience programs. Outside of his work with Riskonnect and its clients, Brian previously served as the Head of the United States Delegation to ISO Technical Committee 223, the authors of ISO 22301 and other related standards. Brian is certified as a Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute.
